A Gentle Nudge and a Perfect Provision

A few weeks ago, someone reached out suggesting we help an older widow who needed a new rocking chair. The spring in her current chair had broken through the seat, making it uncomfortable and unsafe. At the time, I kindly explained that this type of request wasn’t quite what the Golden Rule Movement is typically centered around, as we focus primarily on crisis-based needs.

But the request stayed with me.

Over the following weeks, the need kept coming to mind, and I felt the Lord gently pressing it on my heart to help anyway. Then, on that very same day I began to seriously consider what we might do, someone contacted me wanting to donate a rocking chair. It was beautiful, clean, and in perfect condition.

We picked it up, delivered it to the widow, and removed her broken chair. When she saw the new one, she was absolutely thrilled. What began as a simple suggestion became a reminder that sometimes God leads us beyond our usual boundaries to meet a need in a personal and meaningful way.

Another small act of love, and another reminder that when we stay open to His prompting, He provides exactly what’s needed, right on time.
