Recently, Golden Rule Movement had the opportunity to step into a quiet but powerful moment in a family’s story.
A mother in our community has been walking a difficult road. Her son is currently incarcerated in Florida. While prison is often associated only with loss and regret, this young man’s story has begun to shift. During his time inside, he surrendered his life to Christ and joined the prison choir. On Palm Sunday, he was scheduled to sing in a special service, marking a significant milestone in his spiritual journey.
His mother desperately wanted to be there.
Travel is expensive, and she is not in a position of financial ease. She had already stretched herself to purchase airfare so she could attend, but the added cost of transportation once she arrived became overwhelming. A rental car was estimated at $370, an expense she simply could not absorb.
Through the generosity of Golden Rule Movement supporters, we were able to provide $500 to cover her rental car and additional travel needs.
It may seem like a small thing, simply helping with a car rental. But in reality, it meant a mother could sit in a room and watch her son worship. It meant she could witness redemption unfolding in real time. It meant she could be present for a moment that could shape the rest of his life.
Jesus said in Matthew 25, “I was in prison and you came to visit Me.” Then the righteous will answer Him, “Lord, when did we see You in prison and go to You?” And the King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me.”
Golden Rule Movement exists for moments like this. Not to solve every problem, but to step into specific needs with tangible love.
Thank you to every donor and supporter who makes these stories possible. Your generosity becomes someone else’s answered prayer.
